Soon or later we will experience same consequences despite of the matter where we live. I think alternative energy is our future, not just for energy need but for our reality and our different view to the world and existence. Now is everything about money and power, it is leading us to destruction, killing each other on the different ends of the planet for what? For oil,gas,energy,money.. I think, alternative energy can bring something new.. I must say that this is not problem related to America but the whole world. I wish I could speak with the President and our other leaders. If Obama wants to become a really great President, making us energy independent is the way to do it. I believe the technology is already ready. In the desert southwest there are millions of acres in 4 or 5 states wherein we could build solar thermal chimney towers. This energy would be clean, and little damaging for the environment. I believe that the costs of building these towers would be low once construction was geared up for it. It requires nothing exotic and uses off the shelf technology. I estimated that an area the size of RI. would make enough electricity for the whole country.
