This is what is killing this nation. We get repetitive messages each day while on the computer, watching TV, listening to the radio and driving down the street to eat eat eat. We can go anywhere at any time to buy a soda, bag of chips or a candy bar. We have access to cheap foods that have zero nutritional value at all everywhere we look.

I’m asking why do they have to get involved?

It has to do with the fact that parents are taking care of their children’s obesity problem. I’m not saying all children have an issue but for the most part it is true.

We as parents are making our children lazy which results in obesity which results in health issues when they get older.

As parents we have become uneducated fast paced individuals throwing junk down our childrens throats just to feed them quickly so we can go about working a second job just to make ends meet or better yet sitting watching TV.

What if parents started educating themselves on what they are feeding their children? What if they took a look a what the school system are feeding their child? Do you think they would care?

Here is a video that was shared with me over the weekend and I thought it was an awesome way to get people to open their eyes on the growing epidemic that almost 50% of the united States citizens are facing.

I received a severance, and was able to collect unemployment for sometime. I have also been taking classes since Jan. 2009 either 3/4 or full-time in the IT industry. I have had 3 interviews in this time frame which can literally lower a husband/dad self esteem to nothing. With low self esteem it will affect your relationships, finances and health (weight gain), and I will talk about this later.

I personally feel for the the people who have come off unemployment not knowing what to do. I also despise the US Government saying the unemployment is under 9% when in fact the people who have fallen off unemployment are now considered employed whether they are or not and this counts into the lower rate and about 14.5 million people remain unemployed, with 6.4 million have been jobless for more than six months.

There are unemployed men and women who desperately need something to help them turn around their lives and health.

Why am I bringing this up and how does unemployment and health link to each other? See what the US CDC says about the US obesity rate. Enough said!

Now back to my thoughts.

I know from experience the affects of weight gain. I have personally gained on average 1 pound per month since I was downsized. I was in my mid 170#’s exercising daily at a gym within 2 minutes of my employer. I went there 5 days a week during my lunch hour and would get on the treadmill or elliptical. I was always able to maintain my weight, but I really never got into the best shape of my life.

You know you really do not realize the weight gain over time when you look into the mirror, all you do is buy larger sized clothing and you look good again. Well that was me, till I looked at pictures of my years ago and I asked myself “what in the hell happened?”.

Finally I became sick and tired of being “sick and tired” and decided to contact a friend of mine on FaceBook to help me take action. Without hesitation I started with Team Beachbody on January 7th and received my Shakeology and P90X on the 12th. Being out of shape, I have been working out to the Shakeology 30 and now the 50 till February 1, then I switch over to P90X, then Insanity May 2, 2011.
